A Query language is used to extract (or modify, or delete) specific chunks of data from a database. The most common is SQL, which is used in many relational databases.
BimQL has been developed especially to be able to query large IFC datasets. It is a starting project that is mainly used in the academic world. End users of BIM will not notice it, as it is generally used by advanced users or software systems.
